Recognizes a 34 kDa protein (cdk1), identified as p34cdc2 (a catalytic subunit of Maturation Promoting Factor). Its epitope maps near the C-terminus of the protein and its core is thought to be LGTPNNEV (aa220-227 in murine cdc2). It shows no cross reaction with cdk2 p32. It supports the kinase activity. p34cdc2 plays a crucial role during cell division and is most active during mitosis. It is a serine/threonine kinase, which is activated by cyclin, by dephosphorylation of tyrosine residues. p34cdc2 is inactivated by a tyrosine kinase. This MAb reportedly inhibits the activation of p34cdc2 kinase by cyclins. Primary antibodies are available purified, or with a selection of fluorescent CF Dyes and other labels. Napsin is a pepsin-like aspartic proteinase connected with maturation of surfactant protein B.There are two closely related napsins, napsin A and napsin B. Napsin A is expressed as a single chain protein. Immunohistochemical studies revealed high expression levels of napsin A in human lung and kidney but low expression in spleen. Napsin A is expressed in type II pneumocytes and in adenocarcinomas of lung. The high specificity expression of napsin A in adenocarcinomas of lung is useful to distinguish primary lung adenocarcinomas from adenocarcinomas of other organs.

GP2 (glycoprotein 2), also known as ZAP75, is a 537 amino acid secreted protein. It is an integral membrane protein that is secreted from intracellular zymogen granules and associates with the plasma membrane via glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) linkage. GP2 is cleaved and then released into the pancreatic duct along with exocrine secretions. GP2 binds pathogens such as enterobacteria, thereby playing an important role in the innate immune response. The C-terminus of this protein is related to the C-terminus of the protein encoded by the neighboring gene, uromodulin (UMOD). GP2 is also expressed on the apical plasma membrane of specialized microfold (M) cells among enterocytes and serves as a transcytotic receptor for mucosal antigens. M cells are considered a promising target for oral vaccination against various infectious diseases. This antibody recognizes proteins of 80-200 kDa, identified as different members of CEA family. CEA is synthesized during development in the fetal gut and is re-expressed in increased amounts in intestinal carcinomas and several other tumors. This MAb does not react with nonspecific cross-reacting antigen (NCA) and with human polymorphonuclear leucocytes. It shows no reaction with a variety of normal tissues and is suitable for staining of formalin/paraffin tissues. CEA is not found in benign glands, stroma, or malignant prostatic cells. Antibody to CEA is useful in detecting early foci of gastric carcinoma and in distinguishing pulmonary adenocarcinomas (60-70% are CEA positive) from pleural mesotheliomas (rarely or weakly CEA positive). MAb VU-11D1 reacts with MUC1, a large transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on the ductal surface of normal glandular epithelia. The dominant epitope of MAb VU-11D1 is the 7-mer TSAPDTR of the MUC1 tandem repeat as established with 'epitope fingerprinting'. The'extra cellular domain of MUC1 largely consists of a highly conserved, O-glycosylated 20 amino acids tandem repeat which can occur 30-100 times per molecule depending on the length of the allele involved. In the vast majority of human carcinomas this protein is up regulated and poorly glycosylated and appears on the cell surface in a non-polarized fashion.
